Should I publish or should I
present? That is a great question. I have decided that my leadership project
will be a presentation. By doing the presentation I will be able to share the
process I went through with my Challenge Based Research project. By sharing the
project with others, they will be able to learn ways they can use the
information provided to better their instruction. This project will give me
confidence as a speaker. It will provide me with an open door so people will
get to know me and what I am capable of accomplishing. My role model Kelli
Erwin has done many presentations at different conferences like ISSTE, TCEA,
Region 4, at the district level, and others. My goal is to follow in her
footsteps step by step. My first step was be part of the EMDT program, which I
am about to complete and the next step is to present the CBR project to TCEA or
Region 4 in Texas.
Ana – You, like some others in class, have provided good reasoning for choosing a presentation. I think that presenting your CBR adds the human element and will probably helps to inspire those in attendance to give it a try themselves more than a journal article ever could. I also think that a presentation lends itself well to presenting our CBR work because of all the multimedia that was involved. I also like that it appears you are choosing to present to help advance your own skill set by improving your confidence as a speaker. Having a good role model is important as well. I was attending a conference just today and was marveling at the keynote speakers abilities to engage the audience for over an hour straight with clear articulate language. It gave me something to shoot for as well.
ReplyDeleteHey Ana Gonazlez!
ReplyDeleteI personally have not decided yet how to present my CBR project. I have just received my phase 2 revisions. I hope and pray that I pass this course so I can graduate at the end of May.
However, I am trying to weigh the pro & cons of publishing vs. presenting. My strengths have always been writing; as long as it’s a topic I am passionate about. Over the course of the last 10 years since I have been in college, I have presented dozens of projects in front of the class. It has been a while since I have presented in front of a group of people. I do find that when I am talking about a topic or sharing information I tend to get tongue-tied or say things backwards. I have to remind myself to slow down and think before I speak, which is sometimes hard to do.
Well good luck to you and I hope to see you at graduation.
Excellent choice and great role model.
